NAMES IN THE NEWS
BON VOYAGE MURRAY GOTTLIEB
A well known and well like member of the JFK Airport Community said his goodbyes in June of this year after 58 years of government service. Murray Gottlieb whose biography could fit into a book, joined the US Air Force during World War II and did not stop serving the US government until 2006. After the war, Murray attended Columbia University. He first joined the FAA in 1960 and this is where his career bloomed, serving in many important capacities through many phases of our aircraft industry
growth; from prop planes to jets, and from legacy airlines to specialty airlines. Murray is a charter member of Council of Airport Opportunity, Queens Air Services, JFK Rotary Club and past- President of the JFK Chamber of Commerce. He also represented the FAA to the Port Authority and became the unofficial “ambassador” of the FAA to many of the airports private and public institutions. Murray also extends his interests beyond the airport to private charitable organizations and is a strong and active supporter of JFK’s Salvation Army Carlton House where many homeless families are provided for. Good luck and God speed on your retirement Murray.
