When we think TSA, we think security checks and screening; but an event last month occurred at Terminal 1 that might let us look at the TSA a little differently. It was a typical busy summer evening at Terminal 1 when Theryne Isaacs, a Lead TSO staffer noticed a large crowd congregating in the terminal. TSO Isaac noticed a baby in obvious distress and to her credit; she contacted a TSA staffer who she knew was an Assistant Chief at a local volunteer fire company – Victor Zatto. The baby’s family was enroute to Paris when the incident occurred and now, the mother |

Balde Batouly was in fear for the life of her child, Diallo Fatimatou. When Victor Zatto arrived on the scene, the baby was having difficulty breathing; her skin was pale and clammy and her eyes were dilated. Clearly, time was running out on the infant. Zatto performed CPR on the lifeless infant and within seconds, the baby began breathing and her color changed. Zatto held the baby up for the mother to demonstrate that she was fine. In the meantime, several TSA staffers had provided crowd control to allow Zatto to perform his miracle. None of these tasks are part of the TSA’s job but their quick action and dedication saved a life that evening. While all this was going on, the TSA had called the Port Authority police. PA officer Flores-Lopez arrived on the scene to provide support in the situation. The police contacted Jamaica Hospital |

and an ambulance arrived and went to the hospital where she was held for observation. Thus ends a joyful story that could have been a tragedy. Kudo’s to TSA staffers, Theryn Isaacs, Juan Diaz, Akil Bazemore, and William Casas. Zatto will be receiving a special award from Airport Press in appreciation for going above and beyond the call of duty. |

In November of 1975, the United States voted for a President who was to have a profound affect on our history. Jimmy Carters economic disasters are well documented; worst inflation rate in the 20th century, lowest family income growth since the recording of economic statistics, high unemployment and a stagnated GNP. Carter had the dubious distinction of achieving what many economists believed was impossible, high double digit inflation and no growth. If you need to have this dismal record confirmed, just check the US |

Economic and budget numbers for 1980 through 1984. However, one of his longest lasting legacies – and still disastrous for us – was his choice of federal judges. And this is the crux of this article. One of his choices for a seat on the federal bench is a Detroit judge named Anna Diggs Taylor. This woman is jeopardizing our safety by a bla-case law. All of us should breath a sigh of relief... |
