| TERRORISTS PLOT ON JFK FOILED |
| Joe Alba |
 |
In late breaking news, The Airport Press learned from a New York City press conference on Saturday, June 2nd of a terror attack at JFK Airport. The suspected terrorist cell planned an attack to destroy John F. Kennedy International Airport, kill thousands of people and trigger an economic catastrophe by blowing up a jet fuel artery that runs through populous residential neighborhoods. The fuel line runs through local Ozone Park neighborhoods before coming into the airport. Three men have been arrested and one was being sought in Trinidad. In an indictment charging the four men, one of them is quoted as saying the |

foiled plot would "cause greater destruction than in the Sept. 11 attacks," destroying the airport, killing several thousand people and destroying parts of Queens, where the line runs underground. One of the suspects, Russell Defreitas, a U.S. citizen native to Guyana and former JFK employee, said the airport was a symbol that would put "the whole country in mourning." "The plot never got past |

the planning stages. It posed no immediate threat to air safety or the public, the FBI said Saturday. "The devastation that would be caused had this plot succeeded is just unthinkable," U.S. Attorney Roslynn R. Mauskopf said at a news conference, calling it "one of the most chilling plots imaginable." Two other men, Abdul Kadir of Guyana and Kareem Ibrahim of Trinidad, are in custody in Trinidad. A fourth man, Abdel Nur of Guyana, was still being sought in Trinidad. The pipeline, owned by Buckeye Pipeline Co., takes |

fuel from a facility in Linden, N.J., through Brooklyn and Queens and then into the airport. Other lines service LaGuardia Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport. Kadir, a Muslim and former member of Parliament in Guyana, was arrested in Trinidad for attempting to secure money for "terrorist operations," according to a Guyanese police commander who spoke on condition of anonymity. |

US Helicopter will switch its Manhattan- to-JFK Airport service to the Delta terminal instead of American Airlines'.
"A number of factors necessitated the move - not the least being the fact that American Airlines are consolidating all their flights into one terminal as the old Terminal 8 is being closed," US Helicopter said in a statement. "Commercial and facility related reasons require US Helicopter to move it operations to Delta Air Lines at JFK. Delta has more international flights from JFK than any other airline and has plans to continue their aggressive expansion plans on long-haul domestic and international flight schedules from JFK” a spokesman said. |

| AIRLINES MUST DO BETTER IN EMERGENCIES |
| Testimony on February 15th debacle puts airlines on notice |
| by Joe Alba |
 |
It was an agonizing story, told by a man who seemed almost too weary to tell it. Robert Ruggiero sat before the three local politicos who chaired a committee investigating the scenario that turned Ruggiero’s 50th anniversary vacation into a nightmare. And what the panel composed of State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo of Long |
|
Island, State Senator John Sabini of Queens and Assemblyman David McDonough of Long Island were trying to ascertain is how a vacation trip scheduled on February 15th turned into a comedy of errors by JetBlue and a sad and trying time for Ruggiero. And also, why so many passengers such as Ruggiero became prisoners; first in an airplane and then in a terminal. Ruggiero’s entire story is too long for this article but needless to say, his wife of 50 years and family of 14 who were supposed to be going on a once in lifetime vacation spent more time on the tarmac than in the air - an eventually that did not... |
