TREES
from page 1
family. The first bunch of Christmas Trees were delivered to a Marine Expeditionary Brigade in Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan on Friday December 11th. And from the grateful troops comes this missive: It was quite an adventure moving these trees and the associated goodies to the people all around this installation, and beyond. So much bemusement on how in the world we got real live (or until recently live) Christmas trees all the way over here. My first answer was “Christmas Magic”, followed by an explanation of Dee’s Nursery and the Adopt- A-Soldier Platoon and, of course, DHL. We all greatly appreciate the time and skills of you and the entire DHL team in bringing this bit of home to the folks here in the desert. It made this otherwise dreary spot a bit brighter for the holidays. Special thanks to the DHL AIR Ltd team who provided operational and shipping support, Jim Adelis of Adelis International Security Co. (who’s son was serving in Iraq) along with Lt. Dan Carbonaro PAPD (Viet Nam Veteran) and Cathy O’Rielly of DHL to send live Christmas trees to U.S. military personnel who are serving in Iraq & Afghanistan.

And right not in particular order: Mr. James Adelis (Adelis International Security Company), Cathy O’Rielly (DHL Shipping Co. JFK Airport), Lt. Dan Carbonaro (PAPD/JFK), PO Mike Defilippis (PAPD/ JFK), Mr. Thomas Dee & Family (Dee’s Nursery, Oceanside, NY)

AIRTRAIN

niversary and its 100% increase in ridership, the Port Authority announces the “Top 6” reasons why New Yorkers and visitors to the region alike have made AirTrain JFK such a success:
1. Beat the clock: AirTrain JFK is the fastest way to get to the Airport. AirTrain JFK connects to New York City through both mass transit via stations at Jamaica and Howard Beach and the Long Island Rail Road.
2. Inexpensive: Recession-friendly fees help travelers glide through otherwise difficult economic times.
3. Convenient: AirTrain JFK allows you to leave from Penn Station New York and go directly to your airport terminal.
4. A Greener Ride: AirTrain JFK is sustainable as it both minimizes car congestion and provides eco-friendly mass transportation options that cut down on emissions.
5. Relax with room: Designed with travel and all its baggage in mind, AirTrain JFK cars make travel less complicated and provide more room for all of your luggage.
6: Everyone’s doing it!: Ridership on AirTrain JFK has increased by over 100% over the course of the past six years and now more than 5 million travelers per year use the AirTrain services. “AirTrain JFK has exceeded our every expectation in its six years of operation,” said Anthony Coscia, the Port Authority chairman. “It is low-cost, hassle-free and reliable - three big pluses for riders traveling to and from JFK.”
